More bus problems.

So I love my bus. She is also a pain.  Ever since I got her she has been plagued with electrical problems.   This spring I have replaced her shift stop plate, front shift rod bushing, rear shift rod connector, starter and solenoid, voltage regulator, battery, ignition switch, and voltage regulator again. Now the turn signals don't work.

My art for a show in Carthage

This is my art for a local show at the Beehive Collaborative, a local studio run by a college professor.  It comes from a photo I took at Eureka Springs, AR, a few weeks ago.  The focus is community. I felt that even though it was only my first time at one of these shows, I saw community.

Ginger goes to her first show

Uncle Matt and I escort Ginger to Eureka Springs 20th annual VW show and tourcade. She breaks down 15 miles out ( bad alternator) and again on the return trip, but it was an amazing experience. Lots of gorgeous rides. Here's some pics.

New start with a new starter

Greasy and oily, but not too hard a task. Replaced the starter with a Bosch.

Blown shocks

I've had her almost a month and improved a lot so far. But she had a persistent nagging banging noise when I went over bumps. Had my broher in law bounce in the back seat while I looked around. The rear shocks are completely ripped from the mounts. In fact, some time in the past a reckless driver tore a chunk of the body out with the shocks and never repaired it! I have a good friend, neighbor, elder of the church, co-counselor at bible camp, most interesting man in the world. I called him up. He can weld it if I find an arc welder. Another church buddy says we can use his at his sign shop! Brothers taking care of brothers. Guess I'll learn about welding tomorrow!

Barring an act of God, which I believe could happen, I want to go to Eureka Springs with Ginger and Amber, and whoever else in the family wants to go.  It is the 20th anniversary, and I have never had a vehicle cool enough to be in a car show, but Ginger is the one.
